A Hydraulic High-Pressure Hose is a flexible pipeline used to transport hydraulic and mineral oil, fuel, gas and emulsions under high pressure. Hydraulic High- Pressure Hose can be used where it is impossible to install a rigid pipeline. It is installed in the bending points at most, for example for energy transfer to raise the shovel bucket. Hydraulic High Pressure Hoses are capable of transferring not only energy but also products such as mud that can be delivered to the well under pressure, for instance. A Hydraulic High Pressure Hose has several layers: an internal rubber layer, steel or textile reinforcement and an external rubber layer.

Hydraulic High-Pressure Hose Construction

Hydraulic Hoses are made of the special capping internal rubber layer, steel or textile reinforcement and protective external layer. An internal layer of a hydraulic hose is made by method of extrusion and of special rubber compound which provides a high level of leak resistance, tension strength and corrosion resistance. The reinforcement layer is placed in the middle of the hose and made out of high-tensile steel or textile wires. A hydraulic hose is getting reinforced by using a special braiding machine. There can be several layers of reinforcement which allows hydraulic hoses to withstand high and extra high pressure.

Hydraulic High-Pressure Hose manufacturing process

Hydraulic hose manufacturing often implies the crimping process. There are several stages of it:

  • Measuring a hose length;
  • Cutting the hose;
  • Skiving of an external layer of the hose (if necessary);
  • Skiving of an Internal layer of the hose (if necessary);
  • First assembly of a ferrule and a fitting;
  • Crimping the hose;
  • Checking the external diameter of a ferrule after the crimping is complete;
  • Testing of an assembled hydraulic hose;
  • Cleansing, flushing, blown down;
  • Packing.

The types of Hydraulic High-Pressure Hoses

Present-days manufacturers produce all possible types of the hydraulic hoses with different diameters, corrosion and temperature resistance, which working pressure is linked directly to the construction of a hose. Today the commonly used types of the hose for equipment are the following:

  • One-wire braided hoses such as 1SN, 1SC;
  • Two- wire braided hoses such as 2SN, 2SC;
  • Three-wire braided hoses such as 3SK;
  • Four wire spiral hoses such as 4SP, 4SH;
  • Six wire spiral hoses such as R13, R15;
  • Low Temperature hoses such as 2SN, 2SC, 3SK, 4SH.

Hydraulic Hoses Application

The Hydraulic High-Pressure Hoses are used basically in all the areas of industrial application where the pneumatic and hydraulic circuits are needed:

  • Construction machinery;
  • Farm machinery;
  • Mining machinery;
  • Woodworking  machinery;
  • Aircraft industry;
  • Public Utilities;
  • Oil and Gas Industry.

Hydraulic High-Pressure Hose Technical Specification

High Pressure Hoses should be distinguished by the definite parameters. Here are the main ones:

  • Working pressure;
  • Maximum bend radius;
  • Available temperature range.

Working pressure indicators are set for each separate category of braided and spiral hoses. They should correspond to EN 853 and EN 857 (for braided hoses) and EN 856 for spiral hoses.

According to the Standard requirements the temperature range for high pressure hydraulic hoses is set as -40 °С до +100 °С.
For extreme environmental conditions some manufacturers produce hoses which are applicable for -55 °С до +155 °С.

Maximum bend radius is considered to be one of the most significant criteria which effects the operational comfort with it. The maximum bend radius rates are governed by the European Standards.
