NPTF, translated as National Pipe Tapered Fine, refers to the American standard of connection, the fittings produced according to this standard comply with the Russian GOST 6111-52. NPTF socket resembles a BSPT type fitting. Despite similar parameters, these fittings are not interchangeable, as they have different thread pitch – number of threads per inch, thread profile angle - 60° vs. 55° for BSPT.

The NPTF fitting is most often found on American equipment, but has recently been increasingly used by European manufacturers. This fitting is also used in Russia and Asian countries.

Application

The NPTF socket is used for mounting high pressure systems, has a 60° internal taper and an inch taper thread. It is compatible with NPTF, NPSF, NPSM threads. Sealing is accomplished by crumpling the threads when the nut is tightened. This type of fitting is usually disposable and is not used for reconnection.
