The BSPT socket has a tapered thread and a thread profile angle of 55°. It is mated with a BSPT tapered female thread or a BSPP cylindrical thread. As a rule, sealing in such connections is achieved by buckling of the threads at the threaded connection point when the BSPT fitting is screwed into the tapered or cylindrical port. The nominal size of the BSPT fitting is similar to NPT/NPTF, the dimensions can also be compared to NPT/NPTF, but in some cases the thread pitch is different.
